1920s French Garden: Embassy Grand Wedding

We took inspiration from Roberto Cavalli’s Spring 2014 collection featuring beautifully embellished pewter, blush and silver fabrics when designing for our French Garden themed wedding earlier this month at the Embassy Grand

We added dimension to the head table by layering our Silver Gatsby embellished linen over our soft Pink Silk Satin.

Added embellishments adorning the cake table enhance the style of the beautfully draped linen.

We used our custom-made venetian style Candelabras to add dimension to the table settings. These pieces are new and unique to Susan Murray, and add a period feel to your event space.

Let Susan Murray bring your French garden to life with a bright floral garland (pictured above on the back wall) and a floral cutout fabric in a soft ivory shade (also available in blush shades!)

We have all the coordinates to take this theme in a very whimsical, soft and embellished direction – or a brighter, bolder and crisper direction – depending upon your preference!

Let us know in the comments below what you think of our latest event, how you would choose to explore the French Garden theme for your own event, or what has been inspiring you lately!

Moroccan Spice Bridal Shower

We love it when brides take risks with their event décor. When Kellie, an adorable young bride, came in for her consultation with the vision of a fabulous Moroccan themed shower, our design team was ecstatic with the thought of starting this wedding season off with a statement event! Fuchsia pinks, detailed overlays, custom floral arrangements and gold accents made this shower one to remember!

When we showed Kellie our designs she was a bit overwhelmed by the different fabrics and colours – but mostly by the hot pink chiavari chairs. We have to admit, on paper, the event sounded a bit crazy but Kellie trusted our team of talented designers, so she went with it. And we are glad she did! Some of our favourite clients are the ones that put faith in our team and allow us to do what we do best!

We used our princess styling to decorate the backdrop and head table. This involves layering and pinching complementary linens to create columns of fabric. We decorated the backdrop and head table with Pink Chiffon Roses - with gold brooches to add some sparkle – and Pink Satin and Gold Cartier ribbons. The head table was dressed in our Pink & Gold Secret Garden overlay paired with our Merlot Satina. This new combination worked out beautifully. The dark merlot colour was pulled from the guest table linens and darkened the otherwise soft overlay.

The guest tables were decorated in one of our favourite fabrics, which we’ve called our PurpleDubai. This unique, detailed fabric has a stunning combination of colours and also comes in a beautiful Teal Blue. But what really made the table design unique were the chairs. The hot pink chiavari chairs were a statement piece and a bit of a risk – but we think it turned out great!

We made custom accessories for Kellie’s shower which worked perfectly with the theme. To start we created custom square vases to hold our beautiful floral arrangements. We wanted to create a simple centerpiece because of the busy linens and statement chairs. We chose soft pinks and purple flowers with a few pops of fuchsia and orchid purple to complete the look. These customized vases dressed in your colour scheme are perfect to line head tables or as centerpieces on guest tables.

To bring some height to the design we created tall lamps to scatter throughout the room, on guest tables and along the head table. The tall, thin stature of the lamps made them perfect for the guest tables without making them to busy. The gold fringe with the fuchsia and purple lampshades completed the Moroccan design.

We are so happy to have been a part of Kellie’s special day. We can’t wait to show you what we have planned for Kellie’s wedding – it is sure to be amazing!

Did you like the bold colour scheme – we want to hear from you! Let us know your thoughts!

Trend Watch: French Garden

Think soft ivory and blush pink tones, whimsical floral arrangements and gold vintage accents. Spring 2014 is sure to be beautiful!

With the holidays behind us we can't help but start dreaming up some stunning new decor inspirations for spring and summer. This year it's all about soft pink linens, ruffles and floral accents. We like to call it a vintage garden inspiration with a hint of french charm.

This season you will see gold popping up everywhere. If you are looking for a gold table linen try a more muted gold, one that is softer rather than bold. For your table top accessories try to find pieces that look distressed and rustic to really capture that vintage theme.

Use a dramatic centerpiece, like our Gold Candelabra, to act as the focal point of your table. Surround your centerpiece with overflowing arrangements of roses and peonies and intricate votives to bring a warm glow to your table.

It is all in the details! Add accessories that reflect the theme to pull the look together.

Our feather fans can be the perfect take away for guests!

When choosing linens think girly, pretty and soft. Lace or detailed overlays are a great way to go because of their light and airy feel. Our Pink & Gold Secret Garden overlay and our Rose Gold overlay are two stunning linens, full of joyful pink tones perfect for a head table or cake table.

If that wasn't enough here is a photoshoot that has inspired us!

We believe your cake table is where you can really show off your theme and play around with different textures and colours. This stunning photoshoot captures all of those beautiful pink tones and warm ivories and brings in some darker accent colours in the paper flower wall. We love the use of vintage gold trays and cake stands!

Black on Black

We are constantly updating our collections, adding the latest textures, patterns and colours to our ever growing selection. Where we get our inspiration, you ask? Fashion plays a major role in our choices. When we see designer gowns, sequence blazers or patterned pants we think 'how can we use this'. Whether it is for an elaborate cake table design or a light weight overlay for guest tables we take the time to find the perfect shades and designs that match emerging trends.

One of the latest trends we've fallen in love with? Black. It's edgy, sophisticated, elegant and posh. For a wedding this may seem a little dreary but we think it could be fabulous - if done correctly.

Our Black Bella and Black Magic are two of our newest pieces. With a black on black pattern and flecks of gold these event linens are glamorous yet understated.

Our Black Chevron is a little more out there. Its shimmering surface will create a sleek and sexy look to your design. Pairing the Black Chevron with our Midnight Black Satina gives off the impression of leather next to the sequence pattern.

Our Panama Pin Dot fabric is a classic piece. We have it in many colours and it never seems to go out of style. The black is a new addition to our collection, however, and we are sure you are going to love it! If you are looking for a mat black, quality fabric, this is the one!

Some of our favourite events were the ones that sported this edgy black theme. The first image was from a wedding we helped design last year at One King West. We love the grandeur of this space. That paired with the dark colour scheme and unique arrangements make the space eerie yet beautiful.

These next two photos are from St. Joe's Summer Solstice at Liberty Grand. The theme was very much a South Beach meets LA inspired design. The all black and white outdoor lounge was beautifully accented with some sparkle and mirrored furniture.

Looking for ways to accessories an all black event? It's easier than you'd think...

Black and gold is everywhere these days. On clothes, boots, bags, even in home decor. And with good reason. Adding gold accessories will transform a simple design into one that is classy and enchanting.

Bring in pops of gold. Menus, place cards, charger plates or centerpieces. There are so many ways to incorporate the rich colour into your design.

To keep a sophisticated, posh look try a little glitz and some pearl accents. Our new brooches and diamond napkin rings are simple and easy!

Add a little sparkle with a glitzy centerpiece or diamond trim.
